International Week, 2023

Annually, a week is set aside to highlight and celebrate the cultures of international students at Hardin-Simmons University. This provides an opportunity to learn about different cultures through fun-filled events.

The soccer tournament drew cheering crowds.
International Week 2023 commenced with a soccer tournament that took place at the Fletcher Fitness Center. Four teams (Rwanda, China, Brazil, and Germany) competed against each other, and team Rwanda emerged as the winner. Attendees were provided with refreshments afterward.
The next event was World of Wonder, where we got to experience different talents from all over the world. The performances included singing, dancing, playing instruments such as the cello and piano, and more. The event ended with a runway show from international students in their cultural attire. HsCru was present at the event and performed a dance routine.

Students enjoyed foods from various countries.
Following shortly after was Taste of the World, international students cooked various delicacies from their home countries for all to enjoy. The goal of this event was to share a part of their cultures that the international students on campus cherished. Awards were given to the countries with the best food and the best-dressed country, and Nigeria emerged as the winner in both categories.
To wrap up International Week, a Night of Worship session was held at the Woodward Dellis building. Everyone on campus was invited to join the international students to worship in their different languages. Tim Baek, the Event Manager of ISF and organizer of Night of Worship, shared, “We may speak different languages and not understand each other, but we have the same heart towards God and that is what matters the most.”
Milka Li, President of the International Student’s Fellowship, encourages everyone “to see international cultures as more than just cool or fancy. Appreciate us as individuals, friends, and as your family in Christ.”
