The Month in Photos: February 2025
Hardin-Simmons University is showcasing a monthly collection of captivating photos that celebrate excellence in education, guided by Christian faith and values. This series also highlights some of the creativity and talent of students and staff from the visual media department, offering a glimpse into their work.

February at Hardin-Simmons University was a vibrant month, marked by the celebration of our 134th birthday on February 18th. Throughout the month, our community came together to honor traditions, celebrate achievements, and look forward to the future. Here’s the month of “love” in photos.
HSU Athletics
“Dominance” and “milestones” come to mind when reflecting back on HSU athletics the past month. The Cowboys basketball team made history with an undefeated ASC regular season, while softball and baseball kicked off strong with key wins. Men’s tennis secured a big victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan, showcasing depth and skill. Across every sport, HSU athletes brought passion, grit, and determination!
God’s Favorite
HSU Theatre’s performance of God’s Favorite was a success for the department. The contemporary tale from one of America’s most beloved comic playwrights was directed by Dr. Stace Gaddy, who was awarded the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Certificate of Meritorious Achievement for Region 6 for the production. Check out the College of Arts and Media full Spring schedule of events here.
Black History Month
For 15 years, Ms. Billie Sneed and Dr. Kelley have facilitated meaningful discussions through “Compassion Matters: Conversations of Hope” for Black History Month. This year’s event, themed “I Was There,” encouraged students to connect with history through personal stories and experiences. Each Tuesday throughout the month, attendees engaged in multigenerational dialogue, deepening historical awareness and fostering connections across generations. Special thanks to Ms. Sneed, Dr. Kelley, and all who participated.

International Week
Hardin-Simmons University’s Office of Global Engagement celebrated their annual International Week. The week encompasses events that are aimed at fostering international education, relationships among HSU’s diverse international and domestic community, and raising awareness for global perspectives. Events included Global Snapshot, International Chapel, a Soccer Tournament, World of Wonder, International Buffet, and Taste of the World.
Board of Trustee Meeting
The HSU Board of Trustees met in February and had exciting announcements for the university. HSU elevated the Logsdon School of Theology to its own college effective June 2025 and Dr. Jacob West was later named the Dean of the new college. Additionally, the reinstatement of tenure was approved, following nearly two years of a collaborative effort involving members of the Board of Trustees, university administration, and faculty.
